How we got there
d&h is an established legal firm and estate agency in Orkney and Thurso with a history dating back 160 years. In 2016, the firm was rebranded to create a more modern, dynamic service for clients.
In 2018, NB were tasked with completely redeveloping the existing website to improve its design, functionality and user experience.
The d&h website was developed by another digital agency shortly after the 2016 rebrand but the team were never fully happy with the visual identity of the site or its functionality. It was felt that the site didn’t fully communicate all the services d&h had to offer, putting all the focus on the property side of the business and not enough on its specialist legal services. Important messaging on customer service, commitment and transparency were also being lost.
The team at d&h was also keen to replace their existing estate agency management software, used to facilitate property listings, with new functionality built into their own content management system. This would give them more control over their own site, eliminate the additional license fee and streamline processes by allowing everything to be updated in one place.
NB was contracted to do a full redesign of the website. This began with a clear and detailed planning and strategy phase, working with d&h to ensure the brief requirements could be fulfilled.
The new website is clean, contemporary and easy to navigate. A full suite of services is clearly displayed on the homepage, balancing property and legal to paint a clear picture of what services the firm offers.
The property listings section has been added to the site’s CMS and can be completely customised to include relevant fields and functionality, similar to the previous software but with much more potential.
NB has also created a new range of additional functionality within the property section of the site to improve the user and client experience. This includes the following:
- Property Management Tracker Tool - This system allows d&h to track a property’s entire time on the site, from requests through to sale. All enquiries and interactions can be recorded and monitored, with custom notes added by d&h staff. This has hugely simplified their processes by having all the administration in one system.
- Analysis Tool - This tool records requests for each property so that the d&g team can monitor the interest. d&h can manually change the ‘status’ field for each of its clients and see at a glance the details of each property as they progress towards sale.
- Property Alerts – d&h now have the functionality to automatically generate emails to clients about a change to a property. By simply clicking a tick box within the properties page of the CMS they can generate email campaigns updating people on the status of a property or a change of price.
